We tried to catch one last snap of the golden fall colors, so we thought - what better place than Golden, Colorado?! The drive up to Golden Gate State Canyon was beautiful, with the suburban trees in all shades of green, gold, and red. The story during the hike, though, was far different. Our plan was to hike the Raccoon Trail at Golden Gate, but can I just say the park is C O N F U S I N G? We spent 20 minutes looking at the map but still ended up hiking the trail in reverse. As in, we drove up to the peak and walked down to where the trail was supposed to start. It was pretty funny actually, the further we hiked the more downhill it was! What a great hike right?! We didn't realize we had gone the opposite way until a fellow hiker asked us how much farther it was to the summit, and we were caught off guard. Needless to say, the ACTUAL hike was much harder than we initially thought - the uphill is on quite the incline. While I wish we could've caught the trees during their golden peak, it was a nice way to enjoy a beautiful fall day.
