Full Disclosure - I work for CorePower Yoga (say hi every Tuesday 7p @ Cherry Hills!!). I have not been compensated for this post by CorePower. All opinions expressed below are my own.
It's no secret I am obsessed with Corepower. I first set foot in CPY in college when my friend Megan and I were lured into the studios by the ads for one free week of yoga. I ended up falling in love and stayed a student for CPY (and then later as an instructor) for the last seven years.
Now before you write me off as another fitness fanactic preaching the virtues of yoga, I'd like to set the record straight. I am not a very athletic person. I took a class called "Walking" for my gym credit in high school & was glad there was no fitness requirement in college...walking around campus (and the mall!!) was about as much exercise as I got and for a while, it was all I needed due to a high metabolism. Cue to the real world...it's a b*@%#. Working at my first big-girl job meant long hours just sitting at my desk, eating out 3X a day, going out with my friends, and generally NOT going to the gym. I would be lucky if I made it to a CorePower class once a month.
Then came the period I refer to as, I needed a new closet. I'll breeze over this part, but let's just say fad diets and once a month yoga classes were no match for the delicious food & beverages that I consumed. I wanted to make a change for myself and not feel winded if I walked at a moderately fast pace from my car to the grocery store. This is when my love affair with CorePower really began.
I walked into a sculpt class, and fell in love. It was this intoxicating combination of cardio, yoga, and weightlifting...the endorphins kept pulling me back and soon I found a new groove. I HAD to go to yoga, it literally became an obsession. 20 pounds MELTED in 3 months and my metabolism revved right back up. I needed more. In hindsight, I for sure overdid it for a period of time (I was going to two classes a day!) but I was seeing the results and didn't want it to stop. Guys, lesson learned: this isn't good for you either.
Fast forward four years, two moves and the pendulum finally found itself back in the middle. Now, instead of going to sculpt all day errday, I switch it up. I take days off. I found something that works for me. From "walking" class in high school to yoga now, I am proud of how far I've come in being able to enjoy working out. For me, the allure of CorePower is that it makes me feel successful at being "athletic", at being healthy, and most of all of being me. I go at least 4X a week now and I'm sharing the classes you will find me at in the South Denver-metro area below. (Please keep in mind that I have yet to try every.single.teacher in the area, so there are absolutely more wonderful teachers out there who I have yet to meet or whose classes don't fit into my schedule). Do you have any classes that you would recommend?
