Hands down, this is our favorite near the Denver area. We just love it and can't say enough good things! It is secluded, it offers panoramic views, and best of all there is a cute little rock chair that you can sit in to take it all in.
The drive takes you through Boulder Canyon - be vigilant, or you might miss the turnoff to get to the trail. We totally did: we drove all the way past Boulder Falls before we realized that we had missed the turn (OOPS!). Backtracking added about 30min to the trip, but no complaints here! It was worth it. Hardly anyone seems to know about this hike (???) because we got there at prime time and the parking lot was largely empty. You know that old saying that if there is a line out the door, you know its good? Well not true here. This is truly a hidden gem! It was a relatively short hike and moderate elevation gain (we clocked ~500ft on B's phone). The trail was rocky which was hard on the feet and there was little shade. But, do not let this deter you - the views are STUNNING. Be sure to walk all the way to the end (carefully) - someone built a cute chair out of rocks that you can sit in (which btw, how long did this take you to build mysterious person?) and enjoy the breathtaking beauty around you. This is one we will repeat throughout our lifetimes ♡ ♡ ♡
