Happy Tuesday everyone! Wow we have been absent from the blog for about two weeks now, but what a two weeks! We had family visit, a whole bunch of crazy weather, and tons of excitement at work. We have a lot of new content lined up and can't wait to share whole new categories on the blog with you, so be sure to check back often!
To recover from all of the activity, we decided to enjoy a very low key weekend soaking up the (rare) weekend sunshine. Now, Colorado isn't anywhere near a real beachfront, but we have plenty of man-made options to enjoy. We chose to visit Cherry Creek Reservoir as we had yet to go there together.
If you have never been, please note that there is a $9 entrance fee. You can park across the street and walk in if you really don't want to pay, but we preferred to drive to our secluded little spot. We drove until we saw the signs that said "Lake Loop", and along the side of the road (past the main parking lot), there was a strip for about 5-10 cars. We parked here, and followed the path towards this log structure on the beach.
There were a lot of boats on the water, so the water was not as calm as we would have preferred to swim. (PSST: There is a marina where you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, and boats). There was a lot of seaweed washing ashore too, so be careful or you may get tangled up in its web!
We spent all morning and all afternoon tanning on the beach and reading our books. I picked up a book recommended by Bill Gates called Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World--and Why Things Are Better Than You Think. The book isn't exactly a quick beach read, but it is actually very interesting in the misconceptions we have about the world, graphs to illustrate what is actual reality, and how to thoughtfully analyze claims about the state of humanity. Brandon and I can't wait to finish it - be sure to be on the lookout for our next book review post!
It was hard to head out, but this is one place we will come back to for sure! Have you been here? What is your favorite beach area in Colorado?
