Location: Sloan's Lake
Cost: Free entrance; bring cash for food stalls
Parking Situation: We got there at 11am (festival opened at 10am) and had trouble finding parking. Street parking in the neighborhoods on the far side of the lake are your best bet because the businesses near the lake charge between $5 - $10 to park in their lots.
As summer wraps up, so do the many festivals that Colorado has to offer. I am sad to say that we did not have a chance to visit many others this year, but I'm glad we stopped by the Dragon Boat festival. It was held at Sloan's Lake this year and ran for two days. The biggest draw for me was the dragon boat races, so not surprisingly we spent the first half of our time there watching and trying to guess which boat would win during each heat. We even got up and personal with the boats, which was quite the treat!
Like any good festival, in addition to the Dragon Boat races, there were also PLENTY of food stalls and live entertainment. I wished we could have spent more time watching the cultural dances or martial arts demonstrations, but I guess at some point you have to adult and go grocery shopping amirite? (Yes we clearly live life on . the. edge.)
Which festivals have you enjoyed attending this summer?
