Branching off of the main Maroon Bells area, Crater Lake is a moderate hike up a slightly rocky path. While the majority of visitors opt to skip this hike, there are still about 20% who choose this ~3mi round trip trek.
We opted to take it slower and timed our pace so that we neither had hikers before us nor after us in order to take advantage of some alone time. The beauty of this hike rests in the troves of aspens we got to hike through, as well as the endless views of the Maroon Bells themselves. Enjoy!
